France Ski Trip Day 7: Slide to the right

Sliding to the right today.  We visited the peak of two different mountains in this valley and took some great pictures.  It also began snowing, at least in this valley, later in the afternoon.

Lunch consisted of what we had packed into a backpack for the day.  We bought some very expensive sodas (3.50 Euro each) to accompany our sandwiches/chips/treats.  There was a large restaurant with an expansive deck for diners and picnic-ers alike.  Actually, many restaurants had signs outside saying "NO PICNIC" which meant no eating your own food outside on their decks.  The food you could buy was really expensive though, I don't know why you wouldn't bring your own food along if you could.
The restaurant we stopped at had a very friendly dog that was hanging out on the deck.  It got discouraged later in the afternoon when a patron stepped on its paw with a ski boot.  It screamed and whined and eventually very pathetically limped into the restaurant...poor thing.

We would later find out that this valley was harder to navigate than the others.  Getting back to our home valley was a challenge, let alone our condo.  It seemed we had to go down to go up, then back down, then back up, then back over to a gondola to get to Meribel.  It was late in the day when we actually decided to go back (3:30pm) lifts could start closing anywhere between 4:30pm and 5pm.  Around 4:45pm we made it back to our home valley, then we rushed to the bottom to get to the lift that would take us to our condo.  Luckily, they kept that lift open late.

Cool rock formation that we saw on our many lift rides

After relaxing a little at night, I found I felt very sick.  Originally we had planned to go down to Meribel for trivia at the British pub we had patroned earlier.  I tried to pull myself out of bed and into the shower and then to dinner.  As I sat at the dinner table, I felt really warm.  I was told to go to bed, which I did immediately.  I was running a fever and had chills all night.  Yuck.

"You're done, go to bed"
